2016-17 College Football Bowl Matchup: USF vs Kentucky in Birmingham Bowl

Kentucky is eyeing an end to its bowl drought this season as Mark Stoops looks for his big breakthrough season following a pair of 5-7 campaigns. If the Wildcats can get over the hump, a game such as the Birmingham Bowl would definitely be in reach.

The best possible matchup for the ‘Cats in a Birmingham Bowl would most likely be USF, which could be in for a conference title push after a stronger-than-expected 2015.

The Bulls’ head coach is Willie Taggart, who was formerly in Kentucky’s backyard at WKU. In 2012, Taggart’s Hilltoppers knocked off Kentucky in overtime at Commonwealth Stadium.

So this matchup has the history between Taggart and Kentucky as well as the draw of two programs looking to take a big stride forward in 2016. That would make for an intriguing showdown between the SEC and American Athletic Conference. Continue Reading by Clicking Here
