USF 14-6 (5-3) took both of its weekend matches, beating Temple in three sets on Friday night and then in 5 sets over Uconn on Sunday.
On Friday night, the Bulls won in three straight sets (25 to 17, 25 to 17, and 28 to 26) over Temple to begin the weekend. USF posted a .317 hitting percentage compared to a .180 mark for Temple. USF was down in the 3rd set, but was able to rally to get it taken care of.
Dakota Hampton had 10 kills and 5 digs. Denise Belcher had 13 kills (led the Bulls) and added 3 digs. Elyse Panick had 6 kills and 6 digs. Clara Payne had 10 kills and a single dig as the Bulls defended the net well in this game.
Alex Mendoza had 41 assists (led the Bulls) with 8 digs. Amy Van Sant had 8 digs and 2 assists to round out the top performers for the Bulls. Irem Asci had 12 kills and 3 digs to lead the Owls.
On Sunday, USF won in 5 sets (25 to 14, 25 to 20, 20 to 25, 19 to 25, and 15 to 13). The Huskies made it close in those last three sets, but USF was able to prevail.
Clara Payne had 9 kills, 2 digs, and 7 block assists. Dakota Hampton had 14 kills and 5 digs. Elyse Panick did it all, recording 4 kills, 2 assists, 2 service aces, 13 digs, and 8 block assists. Hannah Smith added 5 kills, 3 digs, and 5 block assists.
Amy Van Sant had 21 digs and 2 assists. Denise Belcher added 6 kills and 2 digs. Alex Mendoza had 41 assists (led the team again), 2 kills, 3 digs, and added 4 block assists. Kayla Williams had 13 kills, 13 digs, and 2 service aces to lead the Huskies.
After these two road games, the Bulls return home to begin a 5-game homestand as they host SMU at 7 PM (Friday night) to get it started.
