USF splits its two matches this weekend, moving its record to 16-8 (7-5) on the season. They beat ECU on Thursday evening before falling to Cincinnati on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulls won in four sets against ECU (20 to 25, 25 to 17, 25 to 23, and 25 to 15) and hit .253 compared to a .216 mark for the Pirates. Clara Payne had 9 kills, 3 digs, and 5 block assists. Hannah Smith had 4 kills. T’ara Austin had 15 kills, 7 digs, and 4 block assists to lead the Bulls.
Elyse Panick had 9 kills and 8 digs. Joli Holland had 9 kills and 2 block assists. Dakota Hampton had 11 kills and 5 digs. Alex Mendoza had 43 assists (led the Bulls) and added 14 digs. Amy Van Sant rounded out the Bulls with 5 assists, 2 service aces, and 20 digs.
On Saturday, the Bulls fell in 3 sets to Cincinnati (19 to 25, 23 to 25, and 22 to 25). USF posted a .202 hitting percentage compared to a .294 mark for the Bearcats.
Clara Payne had 11 kills and 3 digs. T’ara Austin had 7 kills and 4 digs. Denise Belcher had 8 kills and a dig. Elyse Panick had 2 kills and 11 digs.
Alex Mendoza had 30 assists and 2 digs. Amy Van Sant had 2 kills and 11 digs. Jordan Thompson had 18 kills and 5 digs for the Bearcats. USF just did not have it in this game and it was a little disappointing after their great win over ECU just days before.
The Bulls will host Central Florida on Wednesday night (game begins at 7 PM). USF currently sits 5th in the conference standings with Central Florida a game ahead of them. Time to get back in the win column!
