USF split their home two home games of the season, putting their overall record at 17-13 (8-10) on the season. On Friday, they swept Uconn in three straight sets (25 to 22, 25 to 19, and 25 to 10) but on Sunday they were swept themselves by Temple (20 to 25, 23 to 25, 17 to 25).
On Friday, USF dominated the Huskies to improve to 17-12 (8-9) with a three set sweep of Uconn. USF hit .304 for the match compared to a .151 for Uconn. It was a dominating victory and a great way to start the weekend as the season begins to draw to a close.
Dakota Hampton had the big game, with 12 kills, 3 service aces, and 6 digs. Clara Payne had 10 kills and 2 digs while Joli Holland added 9 kills and 3 blocks. T’ara Austin had 7 kills and 5 digs while Elyse Panick put in work, adding 3 kills, 2 assists, 17 digs, and 2 blocks. Alex Mendoza had 33 assists and 7 digs while Amy Van Sant added 5 assist 16 digs. Danielle Cabel had 11 kills and 3 digs for the Huskies.
On Sunday against Temple USF was swept and was held a .210 hitting percentage for the match while the Owls dominated with a .316 mark. T’ara Austin led the Bulls with 12 kills and 5 digs while Dakota Hampton added 8 kills and 6 digs. Both Clara Payne and Joli Holland each added 7 kills a piece.
Panick had 2 kills and 9 digs. Alex Mendoza had 30 assists and 9 digs while Van Sant added 5 assists, 2 service aces, and 13 digs. Irem Asci led the Owls with 15 kills and 10 digs.
The home portion of the schedule is now over (again, salute to the seniors) as the Bulls head to Houston on Wednesday (game begins at 1 PM) for the first of the final two games of the regular season.
