USF fell 78 to 62 to FAU last night, dropping their overall record to 2-2 on the season. Let’s put this in perspective, FAU went 8-25 last year and is picked to finish 11th in their conference. This was ugly and I really can’t find a lot of positives no matter how hard I look.

USF was down 38 to 34 at the half after leading at various points in the first half, by 10 points at one point. USF shot 45% from the field but was out-rebounded 19 to 25. Tulio Da Silva had 10 points to lead the Bulls in that first 20 minutes but things got worse after that.

In the 2nd half, FAU ran away with the game, pushing the lead to 15 points for most of it. It was bad, real bad. USF shot 38% overall for the game compared to 45% for the Owls. USF was out-rebounded 31 to 48 as well, just adding to the misery.

Tulio Da Silva led the way for the Bulls with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 steals. Luis Santos had 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks in probably his best game of his young career. Geno Thorpe added 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists while battling foul trouble.

Malik Fitts had 7 points and 3 rebounds off the bench. Ruben Guerrero had 6 points and 2 steals. Troy Holston had just 5 points on 2 for 10 shooting. Jailyn Ingram had 16 points and 8 rebounds to lead the Owls.

The Bulls will return home on Monday to host Kennesaw State (game begins at 7 PM). This was an awful game for the Bulls. I hope they bounce back but man, they need Jahmal McMurray back in this lineup.
