With spring ball in the air, we’re still covering recruiting here at SoFloBulls! Our last article included two 2021 commitments and this week we’re breaking down the newest Bull on board in DE Keeon Terrell. Let’s dive in on Terrell’s recent commitment to Jeff Scott & Co. along with a few position changes heading into the 2020 spring camp, time to dig in!

DE Keeon Terrell Commits to USF

The Scoop:

Committed to the Bulls on March 6th via Twitter, DE Keeon Terrell out of Fort Myers High School  (Fort Myers, FL) is not ranked by 247Sports at this time. Terrell currently holds offers from USF (obviously) and Toledo.

The Verdict:

In my previous article I discussed LB being a position of seismic need for the 2021 USF recruiting class, but DE just might be an even bigger need if you compare the two. Terrell will help with that as he continues to fill out his frame as a DE at the collegiate level. Terrell’s speed and quickness at the position will be welcomed on the line, a group that looks to rebuild after losing staples Kirk Livingstone, Greg Reaves, and transfer Darius Slade last season. An under-the-radar recruit, look for Terrell to garner more interest from other programs as the year goes on. Great land by the staff for a position group in dire need of depth, one that will continue to be a point of emphasis for the Bulls moving forward!

Two Position Changes to Note

Per Nathan Bond of The Daily Stampede (and as shown on the updated USF Roster), Zion Roland is moving back to WR with Thomas Nance moving to TE.

Roland was a WR for the Bulls back in 2018, electing to move to CB before the start of last season. Roland joins a plethora of receivers heading into spring camp, but I like the move back to WR for Zion. I liked what he did at the position in 2018 as a true freshman and I believe that he will compete with the rest of them for a spot on the field in 2020. If not this season, look out for Roland in 2021 with seniors Devontres Dukes, Eddie McDoom, and Jernard Phillips graduating after the 2020 season.

Nance was recruited as a DE coming out of high school, being utilized as a two-way player throughout his high school career at DE, TE and even QB when needed. Nance flashed the ability to do well as a DE at the collegiate level on his HS tape, but was equally impressive at TE as a natural pass catcher with the athletic ability to get it done against Division I foes. I like this move as well with Jacob Mathis graduating after this season, along with the rest of the position group being an unknown as we head into spring camp. It remains to be seen what Frederick Lloyd and Chris Carter can do at TE, so look for someone like Nance (once he gets his sea legs under him at the position) to be in the running for snaps at TE in the future.
