Just when you think that the #TNSF class has enough guys in the secondary, think again! Covering the recent cornerback addition to the 2021 recruiting class, without further ado let’s get after it!
#TNSF Welcomes ATH Jalen Herring to the Class!
Lawton Chiles High School ATH Jalen Herring announced his commitment to the Bulls on August 3rd via Twitter, becoming the 13th commit to the 2021 class to date. (Still awaiting the news on whether K John Cannon will count as a scholarship spot for the 2021 class). Herring is ranked as the 119th athlete in the country, holding offers from programs such as Navy, FIU, Army, Coastal Carolina, and South Alabama to name a few.
Mike’s Take: As a do-it-all BALLER out of Tallahassee, FL, Herring is set to join the program as a cornerback once he signs and enrolls with the program next year. I loved Herring’s junior tape where Jalen lined up in the secondary, running back, receiver, and even at quarterback when the offense called designed run plays for the position. Herring will come in as someone that can play both ways at the next level and I’ll be curious to see how he develops at the cornerback spot in the next couple of years.
As for the secondary, talk about a LOADED group for 2021 class. Herring becomes the 4th cornerback that the staff has added to the class as it looks like this was one of the positions that the staff was interested in filling early on in the recruiting process. I would honestly be shocked if the staff added any more bodies to the secondary at this point (safety included) as there are several positions that the staff may divert their attention to with 4+ months until Early Signing Day in December. Look for OL and WR to be the positions of focus from here on out with a possible RB and/or DL commit along the way as well.
