Welcome to our series chronicling the 2024 USF Recruiting Class! This series will breakdown every single recruit that has signed to become a part of Head Coach Alex Golesh’s first full recruiting class. (Having a full year to put a class together.) Help us welcome DB Hasaan Sykes to the Bulls!
DB Hasaan Sykes (Tucker – Tucker, GA)
Committed to the Bulls on June 26th, Sykes is one of six defensive backs to commit to the 2024 class. Via Rivals.com, Sykes received offers from BYU, Army, Navy, Charleston Southern, Elon and more during his recruitment.
Run the Tape:
Physical corner who is more than willing to assist against the run. Possesses the necessary tools to lock down receivers in man coverage. Can press receivers off the line of scrimmage and has the potential to be even better at the next level in a college strength and conditioning program. Looks comfortable on or off tech in the secondary. Sound tackler who can be relied upon to make an open field tackle when necessary. Utilized on both offense and defense at Tucker who proved to be dynamic on both sides of the ball. More than capable to be a return man at the next level on special teams.
Mike’s Take:
One of the more underrated signees to the 2024 class, I feel like Sykes was slept on during his days at Tucker High School. Good news for Coach Golesh and his coaching staff! The Georgia product is plenty capable to be everything that the Bulls want and more at the cornerback spot in the coming years. However, the position versatility in Hasaan’s tape stands out to me as a player who could find himself moving further back in the secondary as a free safety who can cover well and provide run support at the position. Either way, Sykes is talented enough to make an early splash in the secondary that will have its shoes to fill with five potential departures at the position at the end of the 2024 season. Welcome to the Bulls Hasaan!
