The 2023 season for the USF Bulls went down in history as a turning point for the program. A winning season, a Boca Bowl appearance, and a Bowl victory – all three which hadn’t occurred in quite some time. Led by Quarterback Byrum Brown, the Bulls will look to him to have a large role in the team’s 2024 success.

Nice touchdown pass here to Sean Atkins.

The Bulls have a talented Quarterback Room, probably the best South Florida fans have witnessed in recent memory. Let’s take a look at what’s in store at QB for the Bulls this year!
QB1 – Byrum Brown
I tried thinking back to the last time the Bulls had the same Quarterback start back to back seasons, and, to be honest, I could not remember. But, returning as the Bulls’ starting gunslinger will be Byrum Brown. Someone recently asked me to describe Brown in one word. My answer: “Wow”. There is nothing that Brown is not capable of doing. Running? Throwing on the run? Being an exceptional role model for the next generation? Yes, he can do it all and I cannot wait to see his growth in ‘24. Last season, Brown threw the ball for 3,292 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also carried the ball 189 times for 745 rushing yards to go with 11 rushing touchdowns.

• QB Byrum Brown became just the second Bull to surpass 4,000 total yards in the season, finishing with – yards, second only to Quinton Flowers’ 4,342 yards posted in 2016.
• Brown threw three touchdown passes in the game to set a new USF season record with 26! pic.twitter.com/x5JG4weuzw
Like I said, he can do it all. Don’t forget, he’s still only 19 years old!
QB2 – Israel “Izzy” Carter
Backing up our starting Quarterback will be Redshirt Freshman, Izzy Carter. Though Bulls Nation did not get to see Carter in action a whole lot (I think he had 1 pass attempt in 2023), I believe he will enter the season as Brown’s backup.

Originally committed to Arizona State, 6’1, 210 pound California product showed fundamental progress all summer and will look to have an impact in the near future.
QB3 – Bryce Archie
Behind Carter will be Bryce Archie. The former Coastal Carolina Quarterback saw the field in 2023 and threw for 53 yards, while appearing in half of the Bulls’ games during the season.

I fully expect Archie to compete for the backup job, but like I said earlier, this year’s QB Room does not lack talent. Also, for those of you that didn’t already know – Archie is also a Pitcher for the USF Baseball team!
QB4 – Marcelis Tate
Welcome to Tampa, Mr. Tate! True Freshman Marcelis Tate has officially arrived in the 813. Straight out of Neptune Beach, Florida, the 6’2 gunslinger has surrounded himself with multiple leaders in Brown, Carter, and Archie.

There is not a better QB Room to be in as a true freshman as he looks to grow his knowledge of the game on and off the field.
