USF Bulls Go Full Wile E. Coyote, Finally Catch the Roadrunners

The USF Bulls took care of business as they defeated the UTSA Roadrunners 55-23. They looked like a well-oiled machine. Take a peek at what transpired on 11/6.

November 6, 2025 – On Thursday at Raymond James Stadium, the South Florida Bulls (7-2, 4-1) faced off against the UTSA Roadrunners. Coming off a much needed bye week, which conveniently fell right after their close loss to the Memphis Tigers, the Bulls entered the game with vengeance in mind as they looked to get in the hunt for the American Conference championship.

Usually I start there articles off by highlighting the performance of the USF offense. Today, I’m switching things up by kicking off with the defense. They deserve it.

Defense

I don’t think Head Coach Alex Golesh could have asked for more from his defense at the beginning of the game, period.

On the first play from scrimmage, UTSA Quarterback Owen McCown threw an interception right into the hands of USF Safety Tavin Ward. Ward returned the interception 40 yards and into the end zone — resulting in the Bulls’ first score of the game. One play on defense led to an early 7-0 lead.

On the following drive for the Roadrunners, Cornerback Jarvis Lee sacked, and ultimately forced a fumble, on McCown. Safety Fred Gaskin scooped up the ball and trotted down the field 85 yards for another six points for the Bulls.

The Bulls were off and running, and the offense didn’t even see the field until the 2:07 mark in the First Quarter.

The South Florida defense put on quite the show. Tackles were being made, and they were applying serious pressure on every single play throughout the game.

Jarvis Lee finished the game with six total tackles, two sacks, and three tackles for loss. He also followed me on Twitter (now “X”) as I was writing this — I guess he’s psychic. We love the support from all players and coaches!

Tavin Ward ended his day with six total tackles as well. He also recorded a tackle for loss.

Also getting in on the action on defense, to name a few — Linebacker Mac Harris (0.5 sack, 0.5 TFL), Linebacker Rodney Hill (1 TFL), Linebacker Ira Singleton (1 sack, 1 TFL), and Defensive End Dennard Flowers (1 sack).

Offense

Similarly to the defense, Quarterback Byrum Brown and the offense could not be stopped. And they were not.

Running Back Nykahi Davenport carried the ball just seven times for 94 yards and touchdown. I’m certainly not a mathematician, but that’s an average of 13.4 yards per carry.

The offense as a whole was incredibly efficient, which lead to getting off the field quickly. The Bulls’ time of possession during the game was 20:13, on the other hand, UTSA’s was 39:47.

I hope to see Byrum Brown passing with the same poise and precision the rest of the year. Brown had a top-tier performance against the Roadrunners, airing it out for 239 yards on 14 of 15 passing and two touchdowns.

He was also electric in the ground attack, toting the rock nine times for 109 yards and added a 13-yard touchdown run. What a performance from the Bulls’ signal caller.

Wide Receiver Keshaun Singleton played by far his best game of the season. He made the tough catches that typically change the outcome of games. Singleton finished with four receptions for 122 yards and two touchdowns.

This same level of play is what USF needs from the Wide Receiver Room going forward. I honestly can’t even remember a drop in the game, that’s a first for 2025.

Special Teams

Kicker Nico Gramatica drilled all seven of his extra points. He also connected on a 40-yard and a 51-yard field goal.

Anyone shocked? I’m not.

What’s Next?

Up next, the Bulls will head on up to Annapolis, Maryland to play the 7-2 Navy Midshipmen on 11/15.
