With the midpoint of the 2012 Football season nearing, I thought the timing was ideal for a status update on where we stand with the Recruiting Class of 2013.
QB Asiantii Woulard
By far our most prized, touted, & needed addition is #1 Ranked Dual-Threat QB & #146 QB Asiantii Woulard (Winter Park HS). Woulard was selected 24th out of the 25 QBs invited to participate in this year’s Elite 11 competition in Los Angeles. Woulard put on a clinic, outperforming ESPNU 150 commits #18 Max Browne (USC) & #16 Christian Hackenburg (Penn State) on his way to earning Elite 11 MVP honors. Trent Dilfer was mesmerized by Woulard’s exceptional performance at the event & was quoted saying, “I never thought he could do what he did”. Dilfer elaborated further, “I’m so blown away by it.” (Video: Elite 11 MVP Interview: Asiantii Woulard) Tom Luginbill, Senior Recruiting Analyst for ESPN, reviewed Asiantii Woulard’s ranking upgrade post Elite 11 that moved the QB into the #146 slot in the ESPNU 150. (Video: ESPN Quarterback Rankings Update). Woulard has continued to impress in just his second season as a starting QB. At 6’4, Woulard will be the impact QB South Florida has needed for years; Let’s just hope the #1 Dual-Threat QB doesn’t decommit before signing his LOI in early February 2013. Here are Highlights from Woulard’s first three games of 2012:
RB Jojo Kemp & WR Jeff Badet
Next up are two key recruits in needed positions for the Class of 2013: ESPN Four Star Recruit out of Deland HS, RB Jojo Kemp & ESPN Three Star Recruit out of Freedom HS (Orlando), WR Jeff Badet.
Jojo Kemp, the #15 on Orlando Sentinel’s Super60, will add depth at arguably the 2nd biggest need for the Class of 2013: RB. Through the first four games of the 2012 season Kemp has dashed for 634 yards & 10 TDs. In Kemp’s second game of 2012 (article) he rushed for 259 yards & 4 TDs in Deland’s loss to New Smyrna Beach. Nebraska is hot on the trail for Kemp after his September official visit where he witnessed the dramatic 30-27 Cornhusker victory over the Wisconsin Badgers. Here’s Jojo Kemp’s Highlight Video: _
Jeff Badet will fill the void left in the slot WR position left by recently dismissed WR Chris Dunkley. Badet, the #28 on Orlando Sentinel’s Super60, reeled in 5 receptions for 128 yards & 2 TDs against Cypress Creek in week 5. Badet has hauled in 21 receptions for 250 yards in 2012 & is considered to be a solid verbal commit. Here’s Jeff Badet’s Highlight Video:
On Deck
I will cover other notable recruits like WR Tony Stevens, CB Nate Godwin, WR Richard Benjamin, LB Keith Kelsey, RB AJ Turman, RB Tarean Folston & the five offensive line verbal commits from Tampa Bay area in my next recruiting update for 2013.
