Everything Comes to an End…

“The 2012 season has ended. So many emotions go hand and hand with this season. It has left me physically, mentally and emotionally drained. I could not have given more of myself even if I was on the field playing. Yes, I am “just” a wife. Behind the scenes of a man behind the scenes. This year I was also unofficial team photog. Documenting every day, every workout, every practice. From June to December I lived and breathed Bulls football more then I ever have before. Now it is over, and not just the season. My hubby has been through this before, he has coached at other places. I know how this game is played, I know what can happen, but it doesn’t make it any easier. For 14 years he has called USF Football home, spending more time there then he did at our house. For me I have been a part of it for 10 years, and our two boys 7 and 5 years. It’s the only place they and I have known. We are a football family, just not a USF one anymore. After 14 years he was told good-bye. It’s a strange business, college football, and to truly understand the ins and outs you have to be in the middle of it all. You don’t always get fired because you are bad at your job, you don’t always get hired because you are good at it. Things aren’t always done with integrity, good faith or just the plain ol’ right way to do it. When these things happen it can make you bitter and forget the kind of person you truly are. So I will do my best to focus on the wonderful things I get to take from here: like the bonds my boys have formed with these players, the sweet and kind words from supportive parents, fans and players for my photography, my husband’s amazing friendships with coaches and most of all I will take from here the lifelong friendships that I have formed with other coaches wives, some of who are my very best. They are the ones who know the exact moment to call, (or more importantly not call but text, haha) the right thing to say and who always have an ear to listen.
