Incoming QB White in the Mix for Starting Job

“The South Florida Bulls have two quarterbacks on their roster with game experience, Matt Floyd and Bobby Eveld, and so far they’ve combined to throw three touchdowns and 12 interceptions. They have two former walk-ons, Tommy Eveld (Bobby’s brother) and Trenton Miller.

Those four men will compete for the starting quarterback job this spring. It’s not a particularly impressive bunch, and that’s why new quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator Nick Sheridan says that Mike White, an incoming freshman who won’t join the team until the fall, could wind up starting. ESPN.com Big East blogger Andrea Adelson asked Sheridan if White will have a chance to win the job when he arrives on campus. “Yes. We’re going to play the best player,” Sheridan replied. “If Mike comes in here and he’s the best quarterback, he’ll play. It’s obviously a challenge as a true freshman quarterback to do those things but we’re not going to limit him or label him until he comes and shows us what type of player he can be. We’re really excited to work with him.”
