USF won 77 to 42 over the UNLV Rebels in the last game of the Play4Kay tournament in Las Vegas. USF is now 10-1 as they head into the holiday break.
It was another day at the office for Coach Fernandez’s group. USF went ahead 36 to 22 at the half, shooting 51% from the floor while holding the Rebels to a 28% mark. Kitija Laksa led the Bulls with 18 points on her big night from the floor. USF was up early and never looked back in this game.
In the second half, the Bulls kept running while the Rebels could never catch. USF shot 52% from the field overall while the Rebels managed just a 29% mark for the entire game. USF dominated in the paint with 48 rebounds compared to 23 while the Bulls scored 32 points in the paint (UNLV had 20). This was just a great way for the Bulls to end the tournament and they did it in style.
Tamara Henshaw had 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. Maria Jespersen had 12 points, 18 rebounds, and 5 assists. Laia Flores had 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Ariadna Pujol had 7 points and 4 rebounds. Laksa had the big night for the Bulls, totaling 30 points and 5 rebounds. Laksa put on a show as the Bulls hit the double-digit win total heading into the holiday break.
Dakota Gonzalez had 12 points for UNLV.
USF will enjoy the Christmas break before hosting Stetson on the 30th at 7 PM in the Sun Dome. Time to rest up, return home, and get ready to add some more wins in the stat book. Go Bulls!
