USF won in convincing style over Delaware, beating the Blue Hens 81 to 53. The win puts USF at 6-5 as they head into the holiday break.
This game was all USF from the start. USF shot 59% for the first half and led 43 to 28 as the Blue Hens never got anything going. The Bulls won the first half rebounding battle at 24 to 16 as Tulio Da Silva led the way for 9 points. As short-handed as the Bulls are, the difference in talent was clear from the start in this game.
In the second half, the Bulls led by over 20 points for most of the half as this one done before it began (rare to say for this program).the Bulls were 24 for 34 from the free throw line, won the rebounding battle at 48 to 37 and dominated with 32 points in the paint. USF went to the rim in this game, attacking the basket and it worked out big time.
A lot of players filled up the stat sheet after this game but here are some of the top performances. Tulio Da Silva had 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Geno Thorpe got his shot going, totaling 18 points and adding 3 assists. Malik Fitts had 7 points and 9 rebounds, Luis Santos had 8 points and 9 rebounds, and Jake Bodway totaled 7 points (career high for the young man). Chivarsky Corbett had 15 points and 6 rebounds to lead Delaware.
The Bulls will rest up over the holiday weekend before heading on the road to take on ECU on the 28th in the AAC opener (game begins at 7 PM). This was a nice win and a great way to get back some momentum heading into the break before the real portion of the schedule begins. Buckle up.
