SoFlo Radio Podcast Episode 5 – SUPER 7: B.J. Daniels

The former USF superstar Quarterback has officially retired from professional football and hopped on the podcast to discuss his journey back home. During his storied career as a Bull, Daniels quickly became the face of the program and it wasn’t long before everyone in Tampa knew ’SUPER 7’.

The Tallahassee kid was a two-sport stud for Tallahassee’s Lincoln High, starring at guard for the basketball team and balling out as the starting Quarterback. Daniels’ posted record numbers during his Senior season, setting Lincoln High’s touchdown record (45) and averaging 27 points/game which shattered the Trojan’s PPG record.

As a Redshirt Freshman for the Bulls, Daniels was named to the BIG East All-Freshman Team after making an immediate impact on his team. The 850 native kicked off his 2009 campaign by leading the Bulls past the Bobby Bowden led Florida State Seminoles 17-7 in front of the crowd of 79,560 at Doak Campbell Stadium. He was also the football program’s Rookie of the Year.

Daniels over his career as the Bulls’ signal caller passed for 8,433 yards, 52 touchdowns & rushed for 2,066 yards, 25 touchdowns. Long story short, Daniels’ has carried the program on his back since taking over for the injured Matt Grothe in 2009.

Daniels was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL Draft, but was released shortly thereafter. He was signed by the Seattle Seahawks where he was a member of the Super Bowl 48 championship team, defeating the Denver Broncos, while serving as a backup to Russell Wilson.
