I’m fired up to drop our third South Florida Bulls Football (2-10,1-7) photo album of the 2021 season from the Bulls’ 38-17 win at the hands of the FAMU Rattlers. The Bulls first victory of the 2021 season was refreshing after a tough first two games against the NC State Wolfpack and the then No. 13 Florida Gators.
True Freshman Quarterback Timmy McClain earned his first career start in the green and gold. McClain finished the contest going 12 for 23 through the air (52.2%) for 163 yards, and found Wide Receiver Xavier Weaver for a nine yard touchdown in the second quarter. Weaver finished with five catches for 77 yards (15.4 yds/rec) and the aforementioned touchdown grab from McClain.
Running Back Brian Battie posted his second consecutive 100+ rushing performance against the Rattlers, which included an impressive 42 yard third quarter run down to the FAMU 24 yard line that led to a USF touchdown. Battie average 11 yards per carry and finished with 110 rushing yards.
USF Running Back Jaren Mangham punched in three rushing touchdowns on the night, pushing his then 2021 total touchdowns to five. Mangham matched milestones that haven’t been sniffed since the 2018 season with Johnny Ford and Jordan Cronkrite at tailback. The big-bodied bruising Colorado transfer has embraced his new leadership role as a Bulls and even from the outside I can see his impact in the locker room.
