Welcome to our series chronicling the 2024 USF Recruiting Class! This series will breakdown every single recruit that signed to become a part of Head Coach Alex Golesh’s first full recruiting class. (Having a full year to put a class together.) Help us welcome OL Tyreek Major to the Bulls!
OL Tyreek Major (Gaither – Tampa, FL)
Committed to the Bulls on August 3rd, Major is one of three offensive linemen to commit to the 2024 class. Via Rivals.com, Major received offers from Maryland, UCF, Florida Atlantic, Temple, Arkansas State and more during his recruitment.
Run the Tape:
Devastating initial punch who will knock back defenders that get in his way. Solid base who won’t get easily pushed back in pass protection. Does well working up to the next level to shield off defenders to the ball-carrier. Plays controlled and doesn’t over-pursue working past the line of scrimmage. Fluent as a run and pass blocker.
Mike’s Take:
It’s easy to point out that Major hails from the same high school as Donovan Jennings and Andrew Kilfoyl (as pointed out in the excerpt), but the goal is to always look at incoming prospects for their body of work alone. Major already looks the part of D1-FBS offensive lineman standing at 6’6″ 305 LBs, but the big man from Tampa is a lot more than just his physical attributes. The film above highlights an offensive guard (occasionally center) who looks well-versed as a run and pass blocker who was asked repeatedly to pull and/or block at the next level on defense where agile linebackers roam the field. To summarize, Major could quickly work his way up the depth chart in the next two years and might be another Gaither OL to have success for the Bulls right down the road from his old high school stomping grounds. Welcome to the Bulls Tyreek!
