Welcome to our series chronicling the 2024 USF Recruiting Class! This series will breakdown every single recruit that has signed to become a part of Head Coach Alex Golesh’s first full recruiting class. (Having a full year to put a class together.) Help us welcome QB Marcelis Tate to the Bulls!
QB Marcelis Tate (Fletcher – Neptune Beach, FL)
Committed to the Bulls on June 17th, 2022, Tate is the only quarterback commit to the 2024 class. Via Rivals.com, Tate received offers from Charlotte, Georgia Southern, Coastal Carolina, Arkansas State and UAB during his recruitment.
Run the Tape:
Off-platform passer who excels at improvising to make plays downfield. Very good arm strength who can whip it all across the field when his mechanics and footwork are sound. Ability to extend plays makes him a MUST to keep a defender on him in spy if you are the opposing defense. Fits an RPO offense having experience with a similar style of offense in high school.
Mike’s Take:
It says a lot about a player’s ability when they are recruited by two separate coaching staffs. Enter Marcelis Tate who has been committed to the Bulls since 2022 and joined the football program for bowl prep last year. Having that experience on his belt along with an entire spring camp will surely help in the development of the future Bulls gunslinger who is the epitome of what you look for in a college quarterback. Marcelis can sling the rock but is also lethal as a runner, reminding me a lot of Byrum Brown coming out of high school as two “under the radar” guys that should’ve received more college attention than they received. Nonetheless, welcome to the Bulls Marcelis!
