Welcome to our series chronicling the 2025 USF Recruiting Class! This series will breakdown every single recruit that has signed to become a part of Head Coach Alex Golesh’s second recruiting class. Let’s welcome QB Locklan Hewlett to the Bulls!
QB Locklan Hewlett (St. Augustine – St. Augustine, FL)
Committed to the Bulls on April 15th, Hewlett is the only quarterback commit to the 2025 class. Via Rivals.com, Hewlett received offers from Miami, UCF, Arizona, Cincinnati, Illinois and more during his recruitment. Before committing and signing with USF, Hewlett was previously committed to Wake Forest.
Run the Tape:
Ability to throw off-platform and improvise as a passer will be a welcomed addition to the USF quarterback room. Comfortable throwing on the run and breaking the pocket to escape pressure. Respectable ability as a runner and will be expected to pull the ball on read options. Good touch on deep passes and has a good feel for where to place the ball at all levels on a route tree.
Mike’s Take:
Hewlett’s tape gives a glimpse of what he can do as a passer and I think the most exciting thing about his addition to the Bulls quarterback room is how he can reshape an offense that has incorporated a quarterback’s ability to run for what feels like a continuous period of time since the inception of the program. This isn’t to say that Hewlett can’t create offense with his legs, but the St. Augustine product is the epitome of what you would label a “pro-style” quarterback coming out of high school. Hewlett joins the Bulls looking to flip the script and with the right talent around him, you might see a different Bulls offense down the road. Welcome to the Bulls Locklan!
