Three names, two new, have surfaced according to Greg Auman (Tampa Bay Times) & Josh Newberg (247Sports.com) as RB targets: Matt Dayes (Cypress Bay HS/Ft. Lauderdale), Rapheal Webb (Gainesville HS), & Robert Davis (Carrollwood Day HS/Tampa).
RB Matt Dayes
The 5’9, 195 pound Dayes had 253 carries for 1,783 yards (7.05 yards/carry) & 25 TDs in 2012, including 170 yards on 22 carries (7.72 yards/carry) & 4 TDs in a 50-53 loss to Apopka in the Florida 8A State Championship game. Here’s what ESPN’s Corey Long had to say about Dayes’ Title Game performance:
Florida Title Games Boost Stock of Seniors
“The three-star prospect took a major leap forward in Saturday’s loss to Apopka (Fla.). Dayes is a little bigger than the 5-foot-8, 193 pounds he is listed at and little faster than the 4.71 speed he was clocked at. Now that he has de-committed from N.C. State, he is on the radar at Rutgers, Vanderbilt, Miami, Kentucky and South Florida.”
Dayes, the ESPN 86-Grade 3 Star, committed to NC State back on 11/26 & following the departure of HC Tom O’Brien considers his recruitment open, but still committed to NC State. Dayes already holds offers from Vanderbilt, Rutgers, UCF, & Kentucky, but after his monster performance on the big stage his recruitment is heating up.

Here are Dayes’ 71-yard run against Apopka HS & 64-yarder against Columbus HS, both for TDs.

RB Rapheal Webb
Gainesville HS RB Rapheal Webb boosted his stock with an elite performance against Florida powerhouse Armwood HS, rushing for 213 yards & 3 TDs in the 42-10 Regional Final victory. Here’s what RecruitingNation.com’s Derek Tyson & ESPN’s Corey Long had to say about Webb’s performance:
RecruitingNation: Top Offensive Performances of the Weekend
“Webb rushed for three hard-fought touchdowns against one of the best defenses in the state. With his low center of gravity, Webb was extremely hard to bring down the entire night. FAU and Minnesota had coaches on hand to watch Webb and he did not disappoint. — Derek Tyson”
Florida Title Games Boost Stock of Seniors
“Webb showed impressive speed on an 80-yard touchdown run in a loss to Miami Central. Webb has around a dozen offers but Utah and Florida Atlantic are the only two programs still showing interest. However the 5-9, 190-pound prospect could be in line for some late offers. – Corey Long”
Webb stands 5’9, 185 & possesses elite 4.5 speed. Here is Webb’s 80-yard TD against Miami Central:

The ESPN 76-Grade 3 Star holds offers from Temple, Minnesota, Georgia Southern, Troy, FAU, Rutgers, Utah, & Middle Tennessee. Webb finished 2012 with 1,987 yards on 246 touches (8.07 yards/carry) & 28 TDs. With former teammates CB Chris Bivins & LB Tashon Whitehurst already on the Bulls roster, I expect Webb’s interest to be high if offered.
RB Robert Davis
Carrollwood Day HS (Tampa) RB Robert Davis de-committed from Cincinnati on 12/8 after Butch Jones left for the Tennessee opening. The 5’8, 160 pound 76-Grade 3 Star Recruit possesses 4.5 speed & finished 2012 with 2,221 yards on 203 carries (10.94 yards/carry) & 26 TDs. Davis finished the 2012 regular season a mere ‘92 yards Shy of Hillsborough County Rushing Record’ with 1,875 rushing yards & finished as the #1 rusher in Hillsborough County for 2012.
Davis’ key traits are: speed, elusiveness, & great hands. Davis, a member of Team Tampa, is listed as a three star 76 grade recruit according to ESPN & is ranked 82nd at the RB Position. Davis is ranked 48th on the ‘Orlando Sentinel’s 2013 MidWest Florida Super60’ list. Davis dashed for 1,837 yards as a Junior in 2011, earning the talented RB Class 2A All-State Honors. Davis currently has offers from Cincinnati, FAU, Ball State, Bowling Green, North Texas, & FIU. Here’s Davis’ recruiting video:
And in-case any of you are wondering, no I do not believe we have a shot with South Plantation’s Alex Collins or Cocoa’s Tarean Folston. But, I won’t rule out Deland HS standout & former South Florida commit JoJo Kemp.
