USF Men's Basketball Signee Troy Baxter Wins High School Dunk Contest

USF signee Troy Baxter of Oldsmar Christian won the American Family Insurance High School Slam Dunk Contest Friday.

The contest was held in Pearland, Texas, just 15 miles south of Houston, the location of this weekend’s Final Four. CBS will air the slam & 3-point championship at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Baxter, a 6 foot, 8 inch forward, is ranked No. 90 nationally in the ESPN 100 and No. 110 by 247Sports.com. He regularly plays above the rim, evidence of which can be found throughout YouTube. After his big win on Friday, Baxter told USA Today his strategy for victory.

“Just coming in and doing dunks that I knew how to do and that I have been doing for the longest and not trying new dunks,” said Baxter, who beat out seven other high school players.

Baxter impressed a panel of celebrity judges including former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal and national player of the year Denzel Valentine from Michigan State. His winning jam earned a perfect score of 40.

“I threw it up and windmilled it, and it really was an easy dunk,” Baxter said. “That’s one of my easiest dunks. I’ve been doing that dunk for a long time, since middle school. So it’s nothing to me. It’s second nature.”Continue Reading by Clicking Here

More Baxter Jams

Baxter is the next thing to former #USF standout Victor Rudd. I’m serious. Rudd is one of my favorites. Added a highlight below.
