USF Football USF Football Recruiting USF Football Recruiting Class of 2020

#US2F It’s Official Visit/Commit Season! (January 23rd Update)

With only two more weekends to go until National Signing Day, Coach Jeff Scott and Co. made their mark this past weekend by bringing in 6 recruits for official visits, resulting in 6 commits at the end of the weekend. For all the news and updates regarding the OVs/commitments, find out below!

We roll on from Early Signing Day to National Signing Day as the Bulls coaching staff looks to continue to add to the USF Football 2020 Recruiting Class. Back at it with another recruiting update covering all recruiting news from January 12th – January 21st, without further ado, let’s get after it!

Before we begin, let me say that this article has been updated a thousand times to cover all of the commitments that happened over the weekend/heading into the next week. What a run by CJS and his staff by nailing down commitments from all 6 guys that took visits this weekend.

QB Katravis Marsh Takes Official Visit, then Commits to USF

As discussed in my previous article about Marsh being re-offered by Scott, the Miami Central QB took an OV to Tampa this past weekend as reported by Will Turner at Bulls247.com [VIP Members Only]. Marsh’s 247Sports.com profile was updated with the change as shown here, along with the Arkansas OV scheduled for the end of this month. (That you guys already knew about.) However, after spending the weekend in Tampa with CJS and staff, Marsh announced that he committed to the Bulls via Twitter, later confirming that his “recruitment is COMPLETELY shutdown” a few hours later. In regards to the QB position, I don’t think that the staff adds anyone else, including any QBs from the portal with the position being in good shape now with 4 scholarship QBs with Smith and Marsh signing in February. In the meantime, expect a full write-up on Marsh including player profile, film breakdown, and more when he signs!

WDEs Tramel Logan and Gilber Edmond Both Take OVs + Both Commit

Current Middle Tennessee State commit WDE Tramel Logan announced on the 14th via Twitter that he would take an official visit to USF this past weekend, along with WDE Gilber Edmond joining in on the party as well as confirmed by Josh Newberg on Bulls247.com [VIP Members Only]. Logan committed to the Blue Raiders back in November via Twitter, but elected not to sign with MTSU on Early Signing Day. Instead of heading to Tennessee next season, Logan will be taking his talents to the 813, committing to USF on MLK Day via Twitter. A much needed commitment at a much needed position, Logan adds depth to the DE spot, a group that lost Greg Reaves, Kirk Livingstone, and Darius Slade to graduation. More to come on Logan’s commitment in my National Signing Day Recap article come February!

We discussed Edmond in my previous article, and even with OVs scheduled to Tennessee and FSU later this month, Edmond shut down his recruitment and signed with USF on the 21st via Twitter. Before Edmond’s commitment, I thought that the staff would take both guys in the class to replace what was lost and clearly that was the goal here before the weekend kicked off. Just like Logan, big time signing at a big time position. Expect a write-up on Edmond in February!

Welcome To #WR/TEOfficialVisitSZN/CommitSZN

This is the fun thing about National Signing Day with the Early Signing Period being in December. For a program like USF with 15 total commits (3 enrollees, 4 signed letter of intent, and 8 commits), when you start hearing about recruits taking OVs to a program, you begin to figure out what positions are priorities for the staff to fill up a class.

Fresh off an offer by Coach Scott on January 15th, Tennessee TE Holden Willis announced that he received an offer from the Bulls via Twitter. Just a day later on the 16th, Willis would then confirm (on the same social media site) that he is taking an official visit to the school on the 17th. Back in December before ESD, Willis announced that he received a PWO from the University of Tennessee, a school that was still in play for Willis until his commitment announcement on the 21st. Instead of staying home in Tennessee, Willis will be heading to the great state of Florida this year, the first TE to commit to the Bulls this class. This was a position that I wasn’t sure would be addressed this class as I expected Scott and staff to wait until 2021 to sign two to replace Mitch Wilcox (2019 grad) and Jacob Mathis (2020 grad). Nonetheless, this was a good pickup by the staff as Mitch heads to the league in 2020.

Follow the OVs right? Well WR Sincere Brown out of South Carolina who I discussed in my last article took an OV with the Bulls this past weekend as reported by Will Turner on Bulls247.com [VIP Members Only]. It only took a few days for Brown to announce his commitment to the Bulls via Twitter, flipping from Appalachian State to USF in the process. The second WR commit to the class, the Bulls found themselves a taller weapon (6-4) for the USF offense for years to come.

Does anyone else get added to the WR position? We’ll discuss that in my next article!

Bay Area Offensive Guard Takes OV w/ the Bulls, ALSO Commits Afterwards

A position that the coaching staff wanted to add depth to, OG Cesar Reyes out of Chamberlain HS (Tampa, FL) took an official visit just down the road to Fowler Avenue, becoming the second OL recruit to take an OV to the school with former USF commit Evan Webster doing so back in December. (Who I will discuss further in my next article.) With long-time starter Billy Atterbury moving on to greener pastures/graduation, Reyes commitment to USF (Announced on the 19th via Twitter) was big for that reason alone. A great pull by the coaching staff in landing the #BayMade OL, the next question to ask if whether or not the coaching staff will continue to recruit this position heading forward. Per usual, we will keep you posted if anything changes!

Leave your thoughts and comments below and be sure to tune in next week with another update on all things USF Football recruiting with National Signing Day coming soon to a theater near you!
