As we wrap up the month of June, the USF coaching staff was able to land two commits this month in Jordan Blackmon and Dequan Stanley. Just before the end of the week, former Grambling State OL Demontrey Jacobs announced that he will join the Bulls roster this fall as well. Covering the latest commit to the 2021 class and #TransferPortal addition, without further ado let’s get after it!
#Stampede21 Welcomes ATH Dequan Stanley to the Class!
The two-way player out of St. Augustine HS, Dequan Stanley, made his commitment to the USF program on June 23rd via Twitter, becoming the 10th commit for the #Stampede21 class thus far. The former Bowling Green commit is the second-highest rated recruit in the 2021 class to date, holding offers from Maryland, Bowling Green, Akron, Coastal Carolina, and Troy to name a few.
Mike’s Take: Ranked as the 70th best athlete in the country via 247Sports, it’s hard to understand how and why Stanley doesn’t have more offers under his belt. If you turn on the tape, you’ll see a player that can play both sides of the ball at the next level (CB and WR) along with being an absolute threat in the return game on special teams. It looks like Stanley is being recruited as a cornerback for the Bulls and I’ll be excited to see what he can do in Tampa if the staff is able to hold on to him through early/national signing day.
P.S.
Check out Director of Scouting for 247Sports Barton Simmons tweet on the Stanley commit last week…
This is a really good get for USF and would have been an absolute steal for Bowling Green. Baller https://t.co/DeKjiuSsha

#TransferPortalSZN Welcomes OL Demontrey Jacobs to the Bulls!
Just when you thought that #TransferPortalSZN was over, in steps former Grambling State OL Demontrey Jacobs who committed to the Bulls on the 26th via Twitter, making him the 11th transfer into the program since Coach Jeff Scott took over in December. For the Tigers, Jacobs logged in 10 games of action during the 2019 season and will be joining the Bulls with two years of eligibility left.
Mike’s Take: It was only a matter of time for the coaching staff to find an offensive lineman from the portal. With subtractions come additions at the position and this surely looks to be the case with Jacobs joining the roster. Now whether or not he will be eligible this season is anyone’s guess at this point, but I love the tape from Jacobs at Grambling State. The future is bright for the young man out of Louisiana and I’ll be excited to see what he can do in Tampa once he’s eligible.
Leave your thoughts and comments below and be sure to tune in later next month for new updates on the #Stampede21 class!
