On September 20th, 2025, the South Florida Bulls hosted the South Carolina State Bulldogs at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Following a tough opening three game stretch (No. 25 Boise St., No. 13 Florida, No. 5 Miami), the Bulls were chasing a win looking to bounce back from a disappointing showing in Miami against the Hurricanes.
USF did what had to be done. They manhandled the Bulldogs. Safe to say, USF bullied the Bulldogs.
They showed no remorse for their opponent and in the end the Bulls were victorious.
The performance from the South Florida offense was nothing short of explosive.
Offense
Quarterback Byrum Brown had no problem spreading the ball out. Eight different players caught at least one pass during the game. The Bulls’ Quarterback completed 14/20 of his passing attempts for 236 yards and four touchdowns. Quarterback Gaston Moore (Tennessee Transfer) also saw some action. In his short appearance, he completed 4/6 of his passes for 16 yards.
On the ground, there was also eight players who carried the ball. Leading the way was Running Back Sam Franklin. On just four carries, he totaled 91 rushing yards with two touchdowns. Running Back Nykahi Davenport accumulated 52 rushing yards and a touchdown on just four carries as well.
Leading the way in receiving yards was Wide Receiver Chas Nimrod. The transfer from Tennessee hauled in four catches for 119 yards and two touchdowns. That’s an average of 29.8 yards per reception. Like I said earlier — EXPLOSIVE!
Wide Receiver Joshua Porter and Tight End Jonathan Echols each scored too.
Defense
The Defense was lead by none other than Linebacker Mac Harris. He racked up 10 total tackles, two sacks, and two and a half tackles for loss.
Harris also recorded a 93-yard pick-six in the First Quarter.
He was everywhere. The Bulldogs’ offense could not escape the Sixth Year Linebacker.
Linebacker Jhalyn Shuler also recorded seven total tackles, one sack, and one and a half tackles for loss. The duo of Harris and Shuler is a force that cannot be stopped.
The USF defense finished the game with five sacks and 10 tackles for loss.
What’s Next?
The Bulls are now on a Bye Week. To be honest, it’s a very well earned week off. After playing three Top-25 teams, they deserve a little bit of rest.
On Friday, October 3rd, 2025, at 7PM EST, the Bulls are back in action at Raymond James Stadium. They will begin their conference schedule with the Charlotte 49ers.

Hope to see everyone there!
Go Bulls!
