USF got back in the win column, beating Santa Clara 63 to 54 in the second day of the Play4Kay Tournament. The offense got rolling early and was able to stay ahead of Santa Clara for the rest of the game.

USF was ahead 36 to 27 at the break as the offense got going and kept ahead of Santa Clara. USF shot 43% from the floor and dominated the glass, outrebounding Santa Clara 25 to 15. Kitija Laksa led the way for USF with 11 points and 3 rebounds. It was great to see USF come out strong after suffering that first loss less than 24 hours earlier.

In the second half, the Bulls never let Santa Clara back in the game, shooting 39% overall from the floor. The Bulls were also 14 for 17 at the free throw line compared to a 6-8 mark for Santa Clara. The two sides each had 44 rebounds a piece, but the Bulls prevailed.

Laksa had 18 points for the Bulls and 3 rebounds. Maria Jespersen had 9 points and 8 rebounds. Ariadna Pujol had 14 points, 13 rebounds, and 2 steals. Dorottya Nagy had 13 points and 3 rebounds. Laia Flores had 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists to round out the top performers for the Bulls in the victory.

Taylor Berry had 14 points and 3 rebounds to lead Santa Clara.

USF will play the winner of the UNLV vs. New Mexico game tomorrow at 6 PM (EST) as they continue this tournament out in Las Vegas. Go Bulls!
