Story on Daniels’ Hometown Return
The final score on September 26, 2009 at Doak Campbell Stadium was 17-7 and USF Football was officially a player in the landscape dominated by FSU, Florida, and Miami. Taking over for injured starting QB Matt Grothe, BJ Daniels made his first career start in 2009 in epic fashion.
Daniels, a Tallahassee native, led the South Florida football team into Doak Campbell Stadium with a crowd of 79,560 for the first meeting between the Seminoles and Bulls & left triumphantly victorious in his hometown return. This win ranks #2 on my all-time wins list just trailing the glorious 26-23 OT Win at Auburn in 2007 in my ranking of the most historic wins in USF Football program history.
