TE Jackson Long (Beech High School)
Committed to the Bulls on Early Signing Day, Long represents one of two tight ends added to the 2022 class. Long is currently ranked as the 62nd best tight end in the 2022 class by 247Sports.com, garnering offers from Florida State, Tulane, Memphis, App State, Coastal Carolina and more during his recruitment. Long will enroll with the Bulls in the summer.
During his high school career, Long posted numbers on both sides of the ball, totaling 70 total tackles, 14 tackles for a loss, and 4 sacks along with 49 receptions on 838 receiving yards with 11 TDs.
Run the Tape:
Receiver at heart who was utilized all over the field in high school. Great hands catcher who shouldn’t have an issue with drops at the next level. Moves extremely well for his size. Utilizes a second gear when separating from defenders in man coverage. Great route runner who will pose to be a mismatch against the defense along with his size/length. High IQ receiver who will find spaces in zone coverage to sit in order to not run himself back into coverage. Willing blocker who is aggressive off the ball and will keep his pad level low to attack defenders.
Mike’s Take:
It became clear early on that the coaching staff wanted to add two tight ends to the 2022 recruiting class with Jayson Littlejohn being the other one in the class. With Mitch Brinkman playing his final year as a Bull, the staff was able to land two solid TEs that can be real contributors to the offense in the coming years. Long is a talented pass catcher who will give defenses fits due to his size and athleticism and I can’t wait to see how he will be utilized at the position down the road.
