Wherever the ball is, so is Rodney Hill...
LB Rodney Hill

Welcome to our series chronicling the 2024 USF Recruiting Class! This series will breakdown every single recruit that signed to become a part of Head Coach Alex Golesh’s first full recruiting class. (Having a full year to put a class together.) Help us welcome LB Rodney Hill to the Bulls!

LB Rodney Hill (Mainland – Daytona Beach, FL)

Committed to the Bulls on December 20th, Hill is one of four linebackers committed to the 2024 class (as it stands now). Via Rivals.com, Hill received offers from Iowa State, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, UCF, Wake Forest and more during his recruitment. Hill was previously committed to Tulane before flipping to USF on Early Signing Day last month.

According to MaxPreps.com, Hill finished his senior season at Mainland with 97 total tackles, 32 tackles for a loss and 7 sacks on defense. Hill was also utilized at running back where he scored 11 touchdowns on 31 carriers for 275 rushing yards on the season.

Run the Tape:

Sound tackler. Takes fantastic angles to the ball and does a great job in “finishing” the play no matter where he is on the field. Great football IQ and play recognition to sniff out plays before they fully develop. Attacks gaps with a vengeance and does a good job timing up blitzes properly to have a clear path to the ballcarrier. Plays with great control and does not over-pursue the play. High motor/high effort player who brings a level of physicality to either side of the ball.

Mike’s Take:

Watching Rodney’s film, I came away impressed with how easy he makes the linebacker position look. Hill plays with a level of experience that you don’t see often at the high school level which makes me believe that he can be an early contributor for this Bulls defense as soon as this upcoming year. Look for Hill as the future at the position with several guys set to play their last year at USF in 2024. Dare I say that Hill could eventually lead the conference in tackles down the road? Welcome to the Bulls Rodney!
