USF Class of 2024 Chronicle: DT Jahari Grant

Say hello to USF's next nose tackle on defense...

DT Jahari Grant

Welcome to our series chronicling the 2024 USF Recruiting Class! This series will breakdown every single recruit that signed to become a part of Head Coach Alex Golesh’s first full recruiting class. (Having a full year to put a class together.) Help us welcome DT Jahari Grant to the Bulls!

DT Jahari Grant (Treasure Coast – Port St. Lucie, FL)

Committed to the Bulls on May 27th, Grant is one of six defensive linemen committed to the 2024 class (as it stands now). Via Rivals.com, Grant received offers from Florida Atlantic, Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Florida International, Georgia State and more during his recruitment.

Run the Tape:

Active hand usage throughout the play. Physical, imposing defensive tackle who will eat gaps and penetrate the line of scrimmage depending on what he is asked to do and where he is placed along the line. Moves extremely well for his size and has a great first step post-snap in getting a jump on slower offensive linemen. Plays with a low pad level and will use his leverage (and strength) to overpower his way through offensive linemen.

Mike’s Take:

A force to be reckoned with on the defensive line, Grant should not be labeled as a defensive tackle that just eats offensive line gaps for the linebackers behind him to roam free. Grant is a disrupter who has the potential to be a nuance to opposing offenses and someone who coaches must account for in the trenches each time they face the Bulls. I liked what I saw from the Bulls defensive line group this past season and believe that Grant will fit in perfectly with DL coach Kevin Patrick. Welcome to the Bulls Jahari!
