Lucrative Extension through 2018

Last summer the South Florida Bulls Athletics Department inked a new five-year extension with Under Armour worth a grand total of $4.22 million in cash, $7.17 million in product, & $1.08 million in marketing support. Beginning in the 2012/2013 academic year the Bulls will receive $625k in cash, $1 million product allowance, & $150k in marketing support. The totals will continue to increase annually finishing the term in 2017/2018 receiving $725k in cash, $1.15 million in product, & $160k in marketing support. As a comparison, the deal inked in 2008 only covered $1 million in cash & $1.8 million in product. That’s right: the new deal is nearly triple the original deal. Let’s just hope they replace the all green home uniforms with a “pro-combat” style setup. We will have to wait and see, but the advertising Under Armour plans run over the next 5 years should add value to the South Florida Bulls brand.

Here’s Coach Holtz discussing the Wounded Warrior uniforms unveiled for the Miami Hurricanes matchup last year. Hopefully there will be more to follow.

  1. Now I have to whole-heartedly agree with you here Manuri. That loss was unacceptable. Our defense which used to play with such fire under Levitt is playing too calm and collected, a reflection of our coach. I understand running the ball on 3rd and short with a chance to take a field goal and win the game, but they lined up expecting it, a Play action call there could have gone for a TD. Conservative play calling and lack of fire led to that loss. NEW COACHES PLEASE!
